Job Context
- SAINT-Bangladesh is a value-based non-profit and non-government organization (NGO), working on the survival strategies of the coastal areas disadvantaged people since 2001. It is registered under the NGO Affair Bureau in Bangladesh and we believe in the integration & inclusion of humanitarian development and a right-based approach in striving for people-centered sustainable development initiatives. It has maintained a level of transparency, participation, accountability, child and gender sensitivity, and respect for human rights and dignity principles in management. SAINT-Bangladesh implemented different projects like child rights & protection, education, health, women empowerment, IGA, DRR & CCA, WASH, emergency response, etc. SAINT-Bangladesh is seeking a professional for the Union Facilitator position for the “Community Nutrition and Health Activity (CNHA) Project” project supported by CARE Bangladesh. SAINT-Bangladesh will implement the project in the Coastal Region of Patuakhali Cluster (Patuakhali, Barguna, and Bhola Districts) from 1st October 2023 to 30th September 2027. Note that this requirement will depend on the availability of donor funds.
- Under CNHA, the consortium will work with different departments of the ministries, especially the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW) of the Government of Bangladesh (GoB) at the national, regional, and local levels, to improve nutrition status by strengthening the community health system and support the effective implementation of the Second National Plan of Action for Nutrition (NPAN2). This will work at multiple levels of local government institutions, specifically with the nutrition coordination committees at the district and upazila levels focusing on the community health system and strengthening the Core Team approach and local nutrition-governance mechanisms. The project will facilitate the development of solutions emerging from communities, government departments, and the private sector. The CNHA will replicate proven best practices to scale up innovative local governance models for better nutrition by transforming the Union Development Coordination Committee (UDCC) into nutrition outcomes. Digital solutions related to health and Nutrition services are key strategies for improving nutrition. The project intends to impact several of the core challenges selected districts face in the North (Rangpur Cluster), Haor (Kishoreganj Cluster), Padma Basin (Madaripur Cluster), and Coastal Belt (Patuakhali Cluster) of Bangladesh.
- SAINT-Bangladesh, a local partner of this project, is hiring Union Facilitators for project implementation. The Union Facilitator will be responsible for the overall implementation of project activities in the assigned unions. Under the supervision of the Project Officer, S/he will closely work with government health and family planning service providers, frontline supervisors, and volunteers for timely and quality implementation of planned activities.
Job Responsibilities
- Plan, implement, and monitor project activities in the assigned unions as per the guidance of the Project Officer.
- Work closely with frontline health and family planning service providers to facilitate the delivery of equitable and quality health and nutrition services, including the introduction of Community Score Card (CSC), mGMP, and other innovative solutions.
- Guide volunteers to ensure quality implementation of project activities through providing supportive supervision, on-the-job training, and demonstration.
- Facilitate and monitor community mobilization and awareness activities such as household visits, individual/group sessions, support group sessions, etc.
- Ensure proper maintenance and documentation of volunteers’ work schedules, timesheets, leave, and payments.
- Promote an equitable, women-friendly, gender-sensitive work environment.
- Facilitate field visits conducted by any CNHA team or donor.
- Support data collection (Paper-based and online) as per project need.
- Ensure proper record keeping and registration of project participants, required services, and follow-up.
- Documentation and preservation of disaggregated intervention records as per MEL plan and DQA standard.
